Poor Baby Girl

Well I have officially experienced a mother's nightmare.  On Thursday morning at 2:00 am I woke up and Evelyn was burning up with a fever.  It kept getting higher until it was to the point when they say go to the ER-for an infant that's over 100.4 in case you are interested.  Chris and I took her to this ER center that is just a few blocks away from us.  Luckily there wasn't anyone else in the waiting room so we got attention immediately, which is what we needed anyway.  I was an absolute mess, but I stayed right by her while she was poked and messed with for hours.  They were trying to find what was causing the fever but couldn't find anything.  They checked her ears, blood, chest, urine, and even her spinal fluid :( I think I will have nightmares for the rest of my life about watching her in all of that pain.  When they couldn't find anything that would be causing the fever they called our pediatrician and they admitted her to a hospital.  I rode in the ambulance with her where we stayed until Saturday afternoon.  They watched all of her cultures to see if any bacteria or infection would grow over the 48 hours.  Luckily nothing did, which means she either had a little virus or it was just a "fluke".  That's the scariest fluke I have ever heard of in my life!  So my poor baby was back in the hospital way to soon, and she has now officially had more medical procedures performed on her in her 7 week life then I have had in 21 years!

Daddy and Evelyn sleeping on the sofa bed...I guess she inherited this sleeping position from him.
The most wonderful thing ever.  The little monitor around her foot made it possible for this sleep deprived Mom to get some shut-eye.  It monitored her blood oxygen levels and heart rate.  Translation: If she stops breathing it will sound an alarm!  Can I get one of these to use at home?
Is this not the scariest crib you have ever seen in your life?  I think it belongs in a horror movie or torture chamber.  Don't worry, Evelyn did not sleep in it once.  We had some fun with it though...
The little princess got to sleep in a cart from the newborn nursery instead, it was much more friendly.  At 8 pounds even she is still the size of plenty of newborns!  One morning when Chris ran home to visit Molly this is where she ended up, snug with Mom!  So we survived our first child sickness, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for those of you who knew what was going on!  We are all home and doing fine.

Evelyn's First Stroller Ride

Chris didn't have to work Tuesday, so we had a little adventure at the park!   We had to put all of the straps as tight as they would go, but she finally fit in there just right!  She loved looking up at the sky.  Poor Molly, we haven't been there since Evelyn was born!  She had fun chasing a bunch of birds everywhere.

Evelyn's First Smile

In the past few days Evelyn has started to smile! This really is one of the very first definite smiles (The smile is right at the beginning so don't blink). She is also cooing a lot and playing with her voice. Her favorite sound is the one she makes at the end of the video.

Hospital Pictures

I know, this blog is so not chronological.  I just keep on finding more pictures that need to be on here!  These are the pics the photo lady took at the hospital.  Being cheap, we didn't order any at the hospital but decided to look at them later on the website.  What kind of photo website allows you to save the pictures to your desktop?  I just discovered that this one does, so I guess we get free hospital pictures after all!  Hooray!
Hello world, Evelyn has arrived!  Isn't her bow adorable?  That's how they did up the girls at the hospital since all the babies wear the same stuff.  The caps and blankets are all pink AND blue.  Good solution I guess, but I want all to know that she is a girl!!

A Little White Dress...

Isn't she an angel?  We blessed Evelyn out in Utah this past weekend and got to see lots of friends and family while we were there.  It was so fun to have everyone meet Evelyn and share in our family's special day!
After the blessing at Grandma Tingey's house.
Daddy and Evelyn ready to go to sacrament meeting!  Is it just me or is he beaming?
Mommy getting Evelyn dressed in her first white dress.  It was a little big on her, she is so tiny she almost fit into a white dress we found that was made for a doll!  The selection in Colorado was sparse but we found one and she looked absolutely precious.
I know it's blurry, she wouldn't stop movin'!  The expression is priceless though so I am posting it anyway.  This is after she is finally done getting dressed and she is ready to eat!

Some cute old pictures...

This is one of the roses from the arrangement Grandpa Hill gave Evelyn.  After it bloomed that next week after she was born it was as big as her face!
Evelyn's little foot cast after her second heel prick.  This time
Mommy had to hold her and boy did she protest loudly!
Daddy is learning to multi-task already.  This is how I found them when I came back from the grocery store one evening.  She's happy and cozy!

Some cute old pictures...

Our first family picture at the hospital.  Evelyn even tried to smile!!
First kiss from Mommy and Daddy at the same time...and many more to come!
We have ourselves a little side sleeper.  She works her way out of her blankets all the time to get those arms up by her face!
